The production of the play “Pamplona” at the Goodman Theatre has been ended, with all remaining performances canceled, according to an announcement from the Goodman Theatre Friday.

This comes on the heels of two canceled nights of shows after the opening night performance May 30 was halted when its star, Stacy Keach, fell ill. Keach, 76, has been advised by his doctors to take time to recuperate, the Goodman said. “Pamplona,” a world-premiere play by Jim McGrath about Ernest Hemingway, was slated to run through June 25 in the Goodman’s Owen Theatre.

According to the statement, ticket holders will be offered a refund or one of the following options: a Goodman gift certificate equal to the value of the tickets; tickets to the upcoming “Ah, Wilderness!” by Eugene O’Neill and directed by Steve Scott; or a tax deductible donation to benefit the theater’s Education and Engagement programs. The box office staff is contacting ticketholders.
