Services for Elmer Matthews, 78, founder of Matthews Roofing Co., 3737 W. North Ave., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at 6938 W. North Ave. Mr. Matthews, a Northwest Side resident, died Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He founded his company in 1935 and remained active in its management for 50 years. Survivors include a son, William; a sister; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
