Rev. Charles R. Stith of Boston said Saturday that Operation PUSH is

”pregnant with potential,” but he has not decided to accept the presidency of the Chicago-based civil right organization founded by Jesse Jackson in 1971. The 35-year-old St. Louis native said he is close to making a decision but is concerned whether ”the time is right for expansion of the leadership, for a change in leadership. . . . You can`t rush a birth or you will have a stillbirth.” Rev. Stith, who was offered the presidency of PUSH in January, spoke Saturday in the organization`s headquarters, 930 E. 50th St. Jackson served as PUSH president until October, 1983, when he left to seek the Democratic presidential nomination.
