When baked, a fudge cake will rise to the top while the pudding stays on the bottom. Serve the dessert hot and top with whipped cream.
HOT FUDGE PUDDING
Nine servings
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Baking time: 45 minutes
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 cup chopped nuts
Topping:
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 3/4 cups very hot water
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and shortening. Stir in nuts. Spread in a 9-inch baking dish.
2. For topping, mix brown sugar and 4 tablespoons cocoa. Crumble over mixture in dish. Pour water over all. Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes. Serve hot with whipped cream.
