A new link was added to Loyola University`s ”Chicago Connection”
Thursday with the signing of Simeon High School swingman David Knight to a national letter of intent.
”We`re going to stay `Chicago`s Team,` ” said Ramblers` coach Gene Sullivan. ”We are extremely pleased to have a player of Knight`s stature. He comes from a premium program. Simeon players are always team-oriented and very sound fundamentally.
”We think David is similar to Andre Battle and Ivan Young (two other Simeon products at Loyola) and he has the potential to be a top scorer at the college level.”
A 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pound forward-guard, Knight averaged 19 points a game and led Simeon to the Public League championship and a 28-2 record.
”David is a complete player and he was our team leader,” Simeon coach Bob Hambric said in praise of Knight, a member of The Tribune`s 15-man All-State team. ”He was the one player who inspired us all season with his intensity on the court.”
