Bally Manufacturing Corp. should have a ”pretty good year” in 1985, Robert E. Mullane, the Chicago firm`s chairman, president and chief executive officer, told shareholders at the annual meeting Tuesday. Mullane said he expects Bally will be led this year by its health-clubs business, which has become the firm`s biggest and fastest-growing division. He said he was optimistic that the Scientific Games unit would be awarded the contract to supply instant tickets for the California state lottery. California is expected to announce the winner of that contract later this month. Mullane said the company`s amusement-game business continues to be depressed, but the company will wait until the end of this year before deciding whether to stay in or leave that field. Primarily because of amusement-game writedowns, Bally lost $100.4 million on revenues of $1.35 billion in 1984. In the first quarter of 1985, Bally earned $4.7 million, or 18 cents a share, on revenues of $263.7 million.
