Services for Erna Hedin Brand, 92, former wife of coin collector and publisher Horace L. Brand of Chicago, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Schauer and Schumacher Funeral Home in Green Bay, Wis. Mrs. Brand died Friday in Green Bay, where she had lived since the 1960s. A native of Sweden, she was considered a musical child prodigy and toured Europe as a violinist and concert singer under the name Erna Lavonia. She moved to Chicago in the early 1920s and married Mr. Brand in 1926. He once published the German-language Chicago newspaper Staats Zeitung, and, with a brother, owned the renowned Brand coin collection valued in the millions of dollars. Mrs. Brand and her husband were divorced in 1940. Mr. Brand died in 1962.
