HOLMES VS. SPINKS?

Larry Holmes has challenged undisputed light-heavyweight champion Michael Spinks to fight him in August for his International Boxing Federation heavyweight title. The $700,000 offer was made within an hour after Spinks had stopped Jim MacDonald in the eighth round of his 10th title defense Thursday night in Las Vegas.

But Spinks, unbeaten in 27 fights, indicated he thought the offer was too small. ”That`s less than what he offered me earlier,” he said. ”That was $1.4 million.”
