In your editorial ”Reagan`s rose-colored glasses” (Aug. 29), for absurdity of statement by a sitting president, you chose to compare Ronald Reagan`s recent assessment of the racial situation in South Africa with one by Gerald Ford on Eastern-bloc nations.
Reagan`s statement also brought Gerald Ford to my mind; however, that is because I immediately decided that the two of them had taken to the golf course, and Ford had completed a putt to Reagan`s head.
America may live down the disgrace of Reagan`s presidency (at home and abroad); however, I am not at all optimistic.
