Halsted Street Fishmarket, Wednesday night.

Four men take a table in the center of the room. They order food and a carafe of white wine.

Pleasant chatter.

At 8:59, an alarm watch beeps softly.

One of the men reaches into his bag, pulls out a tiny TV set, puts it on the table, adjusts the antenna and tunes in ”Dynasty.”

Table talk ends.
