CBS Inc. said its broadcast group expected lower third-quarter operating profits, blaming declines in the economy and advertising spending and a difficult comparison with a strong year-earlier period. In the 1984 third quarter, CBS Inc. earned $48.8 million, or $1.64 a share, on revenue of $1.17 billion.
