I would like to raise an issue about our aid to Ethiopia and other Third World countries.
America has been helping Third World countries in various ways for a long time. In addition, we have done a great deal of fundraising and benefits to help countries such as Ethiopia. An example is Live Aid, a huge benefit where famous singers donated their time and talent for this cause. However, did we
”hear” about the Ethiopian problem, or did we just hear music from entertainers who got a lot of free publicity that increased their record sales? I don`t think all the musicians did it for this reason, but I do think a large number of them saw this as a way to enhance their own image.
I don`t think that we should continue to concern ourselves with these countries` problems the way we have been recently. I think that we have enough problems in our own country.
