Machine-tool orders fell 8 percent to $183.9 million in August from a year earlier, the National Machine Tool Builders Association said. The latest drop followed a July plunge of 36 percent. For the first eight months of 1985, orders fell 7 percent, to $1.75 billion, from a year earlier.
