Paul Volcker, Federal Reserve Board chairman, ruled out the possibility that he would become the next president of the World Bank. Volcker termed the World Bank a ”prestigious institution for which I have great respect” but said he was not interested in joining it. He didn`t elaborate. Asked about recurrent rumors that he will leave the helm of the Federal Reserve Board before long, Volcker said, ”The reports of my demise are greatly
exaggerated.”
