In the crush of celebrants at Goodman Theater`s 60th anniversary last week at the Dixie Bar and Grill, Zelda Rubinstein–who played a psychic in the film ”Poltergeist”–predicted ”a wonderful year for the Goodman.” The tiny (4 feet, 3 inches) actress had reason to be cheerful, having found a table at which to sit while many fellow celebrants did their stand-up routines.

Mayor Washington was warmly applauded when he stepped to the microphone, even though he mispronounced playwright David Mamet`s name.

In his message to Goodman`s administrators, the mayor said, ”I hear you took some heat on your interracial production of `A Christmas Carol.` I know something about that kind of heat.”
