The President, in all his major speeches before the election, stated,
”Nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” Knowing that the 50,000 nuclear weapons stockpiled by the two superpowers could kill every human being on Earth 20 times over, the voters showed their approval of a second term for President Reagan.
On Aug. 6, the Soviet Union declared a temporary unilateral moratorium on nuclear warhead testing and challenged our country to do the same
–permanently.
Now Americans are waiting for the commander in chief to assure those who voted for him that he meant what he said and will follow through by making the first step toward banning nuclear war–ordering the ending of nuclear warhead testing.
