Leafs update–Toronto has the worst record (1-12-3) in the NHL, but the only victory was against the Hawks in Chicago`s home opener. Wendell Clark, this year`s No. 1 draft pick, had two goals in that 5-1 triumph. Toronto did rally from a 3-0 deficit in its last game to tie Boston 6-6 with Rick Vaive and Marian Stastny getting two goals apiece. Vaive is the leading scorer with 11 goals and 18 points.
Hawks update–Just when Chicago was starting to show signs of life with two consecutive victories, it now must scramble because of injuries that have sidelined forwards Darryl Sutter and Tom Lysiak. However, defenseman Jack O`Callahan, who suffered a painful rib injury last Wednesday, practiced Friday and is expected to play, which will make it possible to play a fourth line. A third straight victory would be the Hawks` best streak this season. Last season, they were 6-1-1 against Toronto with Denis Savard getting 6 goals and 14 points.
