At a time when many states, cities and towns are searching for ways and means to uplift their economies, it would be a shame if Evanston decided to forgo the downtown research park under consideration.
However, some Evanstonians, expressing their wariness of the ”arms race,” intended more than a ”symbolic gesture” when the declaration of
”nuclear free zone” was elicited, and would now squelch this chance for continuing Evanston`s reputation as a progressive city.
