A miniature computer that regulates the infusion of drugs in hospital patients works better than experienced nurses, researchers at Emory University say. In a recent test, nurses and computers administered a drug to lower blood pressure in patients recovering form heart surgery. The computer was successful at maintaining blood pressure at a target level 83 percent of the time while nurses were successful only 66 percent of the time, according to the university.
