Lockport senior Andra Dystrup has never lit up scoreboards with glittering statistics. But her coach and father has no complaints with the 5- foot-10-inch forward. ”Andra`s always been a steady performer for us,” said Dick Dystrup. ”She always scores, passes well and plays good defense. She`s plugged along steady. Pa is pleased with that.” . . . Marshall, which lost its first game of the season and its No. 1 ranking after a 58-50 loss to once- beaten and current ratings leader Young Jan. 4 in the finals of the Mayor`s tournament, doesn`t have to wait long to get a second crack at the Dolphins. The top five teams at last year`s state meet–St. Charles, Fenwick, Hinsdale Central, Naperville North and Loyola–competed Saturday in the 31st New Trier Relays, the best meet in Illinois other than the state finals. As expected, it was another showcase for St. Charles. The Saints scored 127 points to 108 for runner-up Hinsdale Central. St. Charles` firsts came from Andy Edmondson in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute 44.13 seconds) and the 100 free (46.44, a meet record), David Fix in the 100 butterfly (52.81) and the 500 free (4:42.39) and the freestyle relay (3:15.86). . . . Keep an eye on Barrington. The Broncos, who tied for 31st in the state last year, placed fifth Saturday ahead of powers Loyola, Hinsdale South, Evanston and Schaumburg.
WRESTLING
Proviso East`s Ed Rossolille suffered his first loss of the year in the Leyden Invitational, won by the Pirates. The 185-pound senior lost to Joliet West`s Blair Kransberger in the semifinals when Kransberger couldn`t continue after Rossolille used an illegal hold. Kransberger was leading 11-6 with less than a minute left. . . . Gordon Tech won the Hilltopper Invitational and six individual titles. BASEBALL
Oak Forest, which won 36 consecutive games en route to the 1985 Class AA state baseball title, has been named co-national champion, according to a national high school poll. The Bengals, who began their winning streak after losing their season opener, share the award with Miami Lakes of Hialeah, Fla., which went 32-1 and won the Class 4A Florida state championship.
The poll is sponsored by Easton High School of Tucson, Ariz., and is compiled by Collegiate Baseball magazine.
FOOTBALL
Harold ”Sam” Samorian, who coached Glenbrook North to the 1974 state Class 5A championship, has been fired by Glenbrook North principal E. James Duffy. Samorian coached the Spartans to a 114-77-4 record in 23 years. ”You have to ask someone else why they did it,” said Samorian. ”Apparently some people didn`t like the way I was running the program.” After winning its first three games last season, Glenbrook North had a rash of injuries which decimated the offense. The Spartans wound up 3-6.
GYMNASTICS
Its official title was the Evanston Invitational, but Saturday night`s eight-team competition seemed more like a preview of the state meet. Although defending state champion Fremd edged Stagg 141.35-139.15, Stagg senior Lisa Peterson stole the show. Peterson, who had an off meet Jan. 4 at the Palatine Invitational, didn`t let anything stand in her way Saturday. She won the all- around with a 9.4 average, and finished first in vaulting (9.6), uneven parallel bars (9.3) and on balance beam (9.35). Peterson tied Fremd`s Michele Hernandez, another top all-arounder, for first in floor exercise (9.5). Hernandez was second all-around (9.26) and in vault (9.5).
