The Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust distributed a record $6.6 million in 1985, with grants going to health, educational, welfare and cultural organizations primarily in the Chicago area. The trust was established under the will of Col. Robert R. McCormick, former editor and publisher of The Chicago Tribune who died in 1955.
