Last Sunday`s column by Robert Bruss advised a reader to contact a title company for a free ”property profile” to determine the owner of an abandoned house. In Chicago and Cook County, however, such tract searches are not free. Unlike other parts of the country, title companies here charge a fee of $15 to $50, depending on the amount of information requested.
