John P. Roche`s excellent short book about Marxist organization for subversion has a highly appropriate statement on Page 52: ”Cuban dictator Batista, like his Nicaraguan counterpart Somoza, was a stench in the nostrils of humanity, but in realistic terms, both were amateur totalitarians when compared with their Soviet-sponsored successors.”
Americans never tire of casting aside a foreign leader for failure to be perfect, but always tolerate a communist successor who falls even shorter of perfection. Since when has it been good sense to prefer the worse of two evils?
