Michael Jackson fans will have to wait a little longer than anticipated to see ”Captain Eo,” his 3-D movie originally scheduled to open

simultaneously at Walt Disney World and Disneyland in March.

”It is now scheduled to open in late summer or early fall,” said Disney representative Charlie Ridgway. The premiere has been delayed so that special effects ”thought of and discovered during the making of the film” can be included in the movie, he said.

These effects involve devices that will be installed in the theaters, as well as optical effects of the film itself.

”Captain Eo,” in which Jackson will play a space adventurer, lists George Lucas (”Star Wars”) as executive producer and Francis Coppola (”The Godfather,” ”The Cotton Club”) as director. Early reports projected that the film would be 12 minutes long, but Ridgway now estimates that it will last about 17 minutes.

”It`s going to be a little longer, as well as a stronger effort all the way around,” he said.
