In a recent ”Voice of the people” letter, Dan Kuhn asserts that the revolution on the Philippines once again demonstrates that nonviolence can be successful in overcoming a brutal dictatorship and a superior military force. He goes on to say that we should seriously consider a policy of nonviolence as an alternative to military based defense.

His argument would be a lot more convincing if he would give us a few examples of where nonviolence overturned a communist dictatorship. He might want to ask the Poles, Afghans, Cubans, Cambodians, Czechs and Nicaraguans for their views. C
