I was very much relieved to read the recent passage of legislation banning off-shore drilling in the Great Lakes by the states bordering our great national freshwater treasure. The oil found under the lakes may be of benefit to a handful of profiteering oil companies but one oil spill could ruin the economies of entire vacation and recreation areas as well as poisoning our country`s largest resevoir of drinking water.
