While in Tokyo, Secretary of Labor William Brock hailed a new Japanese report for that nation`s reforming economy as a ”light on the horizon” for its worldwide trade relations. The report urges Japan to reduce its huge trade surplus, which was a record $56 billion last year. ”The report is potentially the most significant development we`ve seen in a long time,” Brock said. He also praised the current yen-dollar exchange rate, saying ”180 is a number we could live with in the U.S.” The dollar has been hoveringd near 180 yen.
