Former President Jimmy Carter has accused President Reagan of making a

”serious mistake” in bombing Libya. That evaluation is hardly surprising.

For four long years, Americans were subjected to the effete whimpering that passed for a foreign policy under Mr. Carter. Appeasement, accommodation and acquiescence were major components of the Carter strategy and they seriously impeded America`s will to resist aggression.

Mr. Carter might be surprised to learn that his views are irrelevant to many, perhaps most, Americans. He is responsible for a multitude of the problems that President Reagan is still trying to solve.
