I was surprised when I read your editorial on the terminated section foremen in the Bureau of Sanitation.
I was always a champion of The Chicago Tribune because you were responsible for the exam being held for the position of section foreman back in 1962.
Possibly you`ve forgotten that it was you who kept on Mayor Daley`s case until he finally capitulated and held a section foreman`s exam after long years of only hiring political cronies for that position.
I was one of those who took that exam, passed and was subsequently certified as a section foreman, a position which I held for 24 years until terminated May 22.
Now you`ve decided that the position for which you fought so long and hard and won is nonessential.
I`m curious to know why the sudden turnaround.
