Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Being an older one of those ”severely damaged” (an insulting choice of words) people you wrote about in your Baby Doe editorial, I was delighted to see Stacey Stutzman`s poignant letter in ”Voice of the People.”
Ms. Stutzman`s letter rebukes your opinion with subtle style. She knows what you don`t: It`s ignorance that propagates the ”fate worse than death”
thinking. That, I fear, is The Tribune`s own particular disability.
As poet Vassar Miller wrote about people`s uninformed cursory perceptions of her disability:
”I wish you`d learn better before we all totter.
Into our coffins where`s there`s no straight way to the crooked.”
