Martin Abzug, a stockbroker, author and the husband of former Rep. Bella Abzug, died of a heart attack Friday at their home in New York City. He was 69.

Mr. Abzug, who had written two novels as a young man, had just completed a new one at the time of his death, according to the family. Its theme is a man`s lifetime search for his Nazi persecutor.

His earlier novels were ”Spearhead,” published in 1946, about the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and ”Seventh Avenue Story,” published in 1947.

A native New Yorker, Mr. Abzug left City College of New York in 1934 to work in the family`s garment business.

He remained in the garment business until 1960, when, after a period of writing freelance articles on economic matters, he became a stockbroker. At the time of his death he was with the brokerage firm of Philips Appel & Walden.

Mr. Abzug married the former Bella Savitzky in 1944.

Mrs. Abzug, known for her outspokenness and her large hats, was a Democratic congresswoman from New York from 1970 to 1976. She is currently seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress in a district in suburban Westchester County.
