Regarding your editorial ”A corner on the moralizing market,” what nerve that ”arrogant bully” Joe Biden has picking on poor, old George Shultz. How dare he say that the Reagan administration`s South African policy lacks moral backbone simply because it puts no pressure on that racist government to change its disgusting actions. It brought tears to my eyes to see the ”old marine” Shultz stand up for his rights as a taxpayer not to be kicked around.

And imagine Sen. Kennedy saying that President Reagan doesn`t speak for the American people on the issue of South Africa. So what if every public opinion poll I`ve seen says that Kennedy is right.

Thank goodness we have fine Tribune editorials (and Jeff MacNelly) to keep such ”posturing jerks” from gaining a corner on moralizing.

More importantly, thank goodness for senators like Biden and Kennedy who are willing to stand up forcefully for justice and equal rights in South Africa.
