U.S. manufacturers have not been aggressive enough in taking advantage of a declining U.S. dollar to boost sales abroad, said Jerry Jasinowski, executive vice president and chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers. He said U.S. companies are getting clobbered by Japanese and European competitors and that a recession in 1987 is a distinct possibility.
