Maverick oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr. says oil prices will have to rebound to $30 a barrel before drilling activity begins to revive in the United States. ”If the OPEC agreement holds and we see $20-a-barrel oil, it won`t spur exploration,” Pickens told a panel of lawyers in New York. ”Even if oil prices return to $28 a barrel by the fall of 1988, people will remember that it went down to $10 a barrel in 1986.”
