Service Merchandise Co. said it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell 16 Mr. How home improvement stores to Builders Square Inc., a subsidiary of K mart Corp., the nation`s second largest retailer. Nashville-based Service Merchandise said it expects to take a pretax loss of about $27 million in the third quarter as a result of the sale.
