Maverick Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens launched a shareholder rights group he said would help make American industry more competitive in the world economy. He said his United Shareholders Association is needed because
”America`s large corporations have lost their competitive edge.” He said the group will push for secret ballots in corporate elections and equal voting rights for shareholders of companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
