Jack R. Van Der Silk`s commentary, ”Madison would have loved Illinois government,” (Sept. 12) is perhaps the most ludicrous pap printed in years.
Mr. Van Der Silk ignores what is obvious, even to the most politically ignorant: Illinois political philosophy, participation and performance remains a national blight. Expediency, self-interest, self-serving, self-indulgence and self-seeking have been the sole creed by which the political parasites wallowing in the public trough follow.
Illinois has neither leaders, mentors nor statesmen: It has only wardheeler mentalities and moralities out to get from others with no concern nor respect for any but self.
