Television networks face more low-profit or no-profit years to make up for a spending binge in the early 1980s, said Laurence A. Tisch, chief executive of CBS Inc. ”Networks have a couple of tough years ahead of them,” Tisch told Broadcasting magazine. But, he said, CBS Network profits ”can`t decline much more.” He said that in recent years the networks ”never controlled their costs, so their costs went crazy. . . . They just weren`t running good businesses.”
