Gerald W. Smiley, 48, an industrial engineer with W.W. Grainger Co., Inc., died Wednesday in Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village. Mr. Smiley, of Elk Grove Village, was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and School District 59 in the suburb and active in the Jaycees. Survivors include his wife, Janice; four sons, Vincent, Robert, James and David; a daughter, Julie; his mother, Frances; two brothers; two sisters; and a grandson. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Gregory Catholic Church, 5530 N. Paulina St.
