Walk down any middle class, suburban senior high school hallway these days and you can feel it. The tension fills the air. Top achieving, straight-A students are worn out trying to maintain their grades and achievements to their highest potential for the competitive rewards of a super, ”academic” scholarship. Filling out endless forms, writing essays, getting letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc. take up endless hours of grueling work. As a parent, I hate to see this going on.

It`s ironic that these super kids have to work so hard for an academic scholarship when they`ve already proven themselves in school. Does one still wonder why only the strongest aren`t driven to alcohol and drugs?
