The old wife-to-husband joke, ”I`m not overdrawn, you`re

underdeposited,” has appeared in Disneyland East, a.k.a. Congress. There the chorus is, ”We need more taxes because no expense can be cut!”

In every poll taken, the public has spoken to the contrary and shouted,

”You can cut. Why don`t you do it?” Congress never cuts anything, constantly dreams up more ways to spend, and in fact, cannot even discuss the possiblity of cutting.

When Walter Mondale suggested more taxes, a mass turnout voted to try a different approach, but the message never reached the wastrels who hope to be elected forever by passing out other people`s money. The people did not vote for insanity or higher taxes; can no one in Congress read the papers?
