”Radio Days,” a bad movie? Enid and Bert Powell may agree with Dave Kehr, but I can`t believe they all saw the same poignant, hilarious movie I saw. Kehr is a (usually) terrific critic whose attention to all aspects of film, including how the look of a movie informs its content, is a welcome upgrade from Gene Siskel`s often whiny and simplistic ”I didn`t like his (or her) character” approach.

But Kehr`s windy praise of Clint Eastwood as actor, director, producer, ad nauseum in his essay–not mere review–on ”Heartbreak Ridge” leads me to one conclusion: When it comes to Woody Allen, who`s continually innovative, and Eastwood, who reworks cliches, Kehr is just not to be believed.
