High design on the party circuit needn`t be limited to clothes.

Not when the affair is outfitted in ultramodern items for entertaining.

Form travels with function in this world of sushi and sake, chevre and champagne. Gleaming stainless steel and gold leaf play off sooty matte black. Natural materials like glass and marble meet brushed acrylics and frost-finishes. With a nod to European designers, Japanese and American artists are reshaping the way we furnish our festivities with an attention to detail and an appreciation of art.

They are items designed to make a statement.

”If someone is having a home done by a designer, they appreciate the design of items like these,” says Kevin Tuszynski at City. They are, he says, the details that make a difference.

Says Chiasso`s Hope Van Winkle: ”Buyers of these pieces are aware of design. When they renovate, they`re not just going to fix the radiator but the whole style.” —
