Mass for Kenneth R. Briegel, 81, who was the first personnel manager for the Chicago catalog order plant of Sears Roebuck & Co., was said Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Mr. Briegel, formerly of Oak Park, died Wednesday in his home in Bloomington, Ind. A native of Lake Geneva, Wis., he started with Sears as a trainee in 1929 and retired as ”Mr. Personnel” in charge of 13,000 employees in 1963. Mr. Briegel is survived by his wife, Geraldine; a son, Kenneth C.; 2 daughters, Linda Hayes and Mary Lou Melwid; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
