When ”Pump Boys and Dinettes” gives its 1,000th performance on Wednesday, it will have lasted as long as Anne Boleyn did with Henry VIII. But unlike Anne, who lost her head after her thousand days, ”Pump Boys” still has quite a future ahead of it: Some tickets for January, 1988, have already been sold. ”Pump Boys,” which opened in November, 1984, has now played to more than 350,000 patrons and grossed $5.9 million in Chicago. Before that it had a successful three-year New York run, including a Tony nomination in 1982. Three members who were with the show for Chicago performance No. 1 will also be on hand for No. 1,000: Maggie LaMee, Malcom Ruhl (who doubles as music director) and Tom Mendel. Tickets are still available for Wednesday`s millenium (as well as other weekday performances), but weekend tickets must be purchased in advance.
1,000th performance of ”Pump Boys and Dinettes”; Apollo Theater Center, 2540 N. Lincoln Ave., 935-6100; 8 p.m. Wednesday (regular performance Tuesdays through Sundays); $19.50-$24.
