Remember the cliche: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

In Illinois today, that`s quite true. Back in 1982, Gov. Thompson told us a tax increase was not necessary. Right after the election in 1983, surprise, a tax increase from Gov. Thompson. Last fall the same governor advised a tax increase wasn`t needed. Surprise again; in February, Mr. Thompson decided a ton of new taxes are necessary. The new tax hikes are on top of the Thompson-approved Com Ed rate hike.
