Inadvertently I`ve recently been watching a new soap opera, ”The Preacher Stumbles,” on TV almost any time of the day. I don`t usually watch the soaps, and this one has me puzzled. It combines rich TV ministers and sinister take-over plots, a sexual encounter, drug addiction, death threats by God, a prayer tower, a glass church, a presidential aspirant, an amusement park, a cosmetics business, the religious political right, devil-wrestling Fundamentalists, Pentecostals, greed . . .
Wait a minute. I`ve got it! I think I`m beginning to understand. This show wasn`t meant to be a soap opera at all. It`s a comedy. Now, that`s funny.
