Every time a top level football or basketball coach gets splashed with a giant plastic barrel of Gatorade, Chicagoan Philip Marineau smiles. That`s because Marineau, 40, is in charge of the Quaker Oats Co. division that markets Gatorade, the fruit-flavored drink fortified with sweeteners and minerals that athletes swig for fourth-quarter pep. Marineau, who has been with Quaker since 1972, says Gatorade sells ”to anyone who sweats.” Sales have surged to $250 million from $90 million in the four years since Quaker acquired the product with Stokely-Van Camp Inc.
