Interest rates on short-term Treasury securities fell in Monday`s auction, erasing part of last week`s big increase. The Treasury Department sold $6.62 billion in three-month bills at an average discount rate of 5.77 percent, down from 5.98 percent last week. Another $6.61 billion was sold in six-month bills at an average discount rate of 6 percent, down from 6.08 percent last week.
