I was dismayed–and disgusted–at the lack of good judgment displayed by your sports staff in its April 19 article about the Milwaukee Brewers. The headline read, ”Ya, hey, they can play.” Whatever happened to responsible journalism? With that headline, you demeaned an entire city, perpetuated a silly stereotype and managed to make yourselves look like ”sore losers” in the process.
I`ve always admired and loved the city of Chicago and recently moved here because of my fondness for it. But, being Milwaukee-born and raised, I am constantly amazed at the arrogance with which many Chicagoans view their northern neighbors in Wisconsin. Milwaukee is a friendly, clean, comfortable town with a diverse population that deserves much more than a blatant stereotype as perpetuated in your silly headline.
By the way, have any of your editors ever actually heard a Milwaukeean say ”Ya, hey”?
